1The grocery counter

Every grocery feature, on every plan.

Big POS brands are built for coffee shops. These are the seven things a grocery register has to do on a Saturday rush, and all seven come with the cheapest plan.

01/07

Weighing scales

Scan the deli or meat-counter label and the weight and price land on the ticket. Or weigh by the pound at the register.

  • Label-scale barcodes: prefix + SKU + weight
  • Decimal quantities in lb or kg
How it works: Weighing scales
02/07

PLU codes

Cashiers type 4011 and bananas ring up. Organic 9-prefix codes work the same way.

  • 4- and 5-digit produce codes
  • Your own house codes for bulk bins
How it works: PLU codes
03/07

SNAP / EBT

Flag SNAP-eligible items once. Split tender at checkout works with your certified EBT processor.

  • US only, with your FNS authorization
  • Ready for 2026 state soda/candy rules
How it works: SNAP / EBT

And the rest of the store

Lot numbers and expiry dates, barcode and shelf labels, reward points, customer balances, multi-store stock transfers, reports by department.

Weigh something. Watch the label.

Label scales print a barcode that carries the item code and the weight. The register reads it and multiplies by the price per pound. Try it: drag the scale, then put something on it.

Drag the scale to turn it, or use the arrows. Pick an item to weigh it.

SNAP changed in 2026. Your register has to keep up.

Two federal and state changes hit SNAP retailers this year. GetGroceryPOS lets you mark restricted items per state so the split at checkout stays right.

State soda and candy restrictions
USDA approved state waivers that remove soft drinks, candy or both from SNAP. Florida’s took effect April 20, 2026, Texas’s April 1, 2026; Ohio and Missouri follow on October 1, 2026, with more states into 2027–2028. Retailers must update their own POS item lists. Source: USDA FNS waiver tracker, checked October 17, 2026.
New staple-food stocking standard
From November 4, 2026, most SNAP stores must stock at least seven varieties in each of four staple categories, with perishables in three. Source: FNS final rule, Federal Register 2026-09137.

SNAP/EBT is a US program. It works with your certified EBT processor and needs your store’s own FNS authorization.

Questions grocers ask before they switch

Every answer is right here on the page. Type a word to narrow the shelf.

10 questions on the shelf

  1. What is the best POS system for a small grocery store?

The best grocery POS is the one that handles weighed items, PLU codes, EBT and a large catalogue without extra fees. GetGroceryPOS includes label-scale barcodes, PLU lookup, case and unit pricing, purchase orders and multilingual receipts on every plan, from one register up.

Compare it fairly with our side-by-side comparisons.

  2. How much does GetGroceryPOS cost?

Plans are priced per store and include registers: Corner (1 register), Market (3) and Supermarket (8). In the US that is $39, $79 and $149 a month. UAE and Pakistan have their own prices. See pricing for every country and the annual discount.

  3. Can I accept SNAP/EBT with GetGroceryPOS?

Yes, in the US. GetGroceryPOS flags SNAP-eligible items and splits the tender at checkout, and it works with your certified EBT processor. Your store still needs its own SNAP authorization from USDA FNS, which we cannot apply for on your behalf. How SNAP/EBT works here.

  4. Does it work with my scale?

Label-printing scales at the deli, meat or produce counter print a barcode that holds the item code and the weight. GetGroceryPOS reads that barcode in your configured format (prefix, SKU length, weight digits). You can also sell by the pound or kilo by entering decimal weights. Bring your scale model to the demo and we check it. Hardware guide.

  5. Can my cashiers use it in Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Arabic or Urdu?

Yes. Each user picks their own interface language. English, Spanish and Arabic ship ready; Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean and Urdu screens are set up as custom translations during onboarding. Product names can be typed in any script and printed on receipts. Language support.

  6. Do I need to install anything?

No. GetGroceryPOS is hosted for you. You sign up online, create your business, add your store and registers, import products and start selling in a browser on a PC, tablet or touch terminal.

  7. What is the online store that comes with every plan?

When you add products, a simple online store is generated from your catalogue: products, prices, photos and stock. Customers can browse and order. If you want a custom-designed website, that is the managed grocery website, or the Store Bundle.

  8. Is there a contract or a setup fee?

No contract: pay monthly and cancel any month, or pay annually and get 2 months free. The POS has no setup fee. Moving your products from your old POS is free on every plan. The managed website has a one-time setup fee, which is waived in the bundle.

  9. Can I use my current card processor?

Card payments run through a payment processor you choose. Ask on your demo which processors and card readers we connect today; your processing rates are set by your processor, not by us.

  10. Do you serve stores outside the US?

Yes: the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan, with local prices in AED (VAT included) and PKR, and WhatsApp support. Countries we serve.
