Your store’s data, in plain words.

No jargon, no badges we haven’t earned. This is how your sales, products and customers are kept, who can see them, and how you take them with you.

Six layers, explained.

  1. Hosted for you

The software runs on servers we manage. Your registers connect over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection; nothing is installed in the store.

  2. Your store, your data

Each business’s data is kept separate. Your products, sales and customers belong to you.

  3. Backups

We back up store data regularly and keep copies off the main server, so a hardware failure doesn’t lose your history.

  4. Logins and roles

Every user has their own login. Roles decide who can refund, void, change prices or see reports.

  5. Card data stays with the processor

Card numbers are read by your payment processor’s terminal. GetGroceryPOS records the payment, not the card number.

  6. Export and leave

Export products, customers and reports to spreadsheets at any time, and for 30 days after you cancel.

Your part of the job.

  • Give every cashier their own login; never share the owner account.
  • Remove staff logins on their last day.
  • Use strong passwords and don’t save them on shared register PCs.
  • Keep your payment processor’s terminal updated as they instruct.

Security questions, answered.

8 questions on the shelf

  1. Where is my store data kept?

On servers we manage for the hosted service, with regular backups kept separately. Ask on your demo if you need the hosting region for your records.

  2. Do you store card numbers?

No. Cards are read and processed by your payment processor’s terminal; we record that a payment was made and its amount.

  3. Are you PCI or SOC 2 certified?

We don’t claim those certifications. Card security is handled by your payment processor, which carries its own compliance obligations.

  4. What if the internet goes down?

The registers need a connection. Keep a mobile-data backup router; data already saved is safe on the server.

  5. Who at GetGroceryPOS can see my data?

Only staff who need to for support, and only to help you. We never sell store data.

  6. Can I delete my data?

Yes. After cancelling you can ask us to delete your business data; see the data request page.

  7. How do I report a security problem?

Use the contact form and choose “Other”, or the Show email button on the contact page. We reply within one business day.

  8. Can I control what each cashier sees?

Yes. Roles decide who can see reports, change prices, refund, void or open the cash drawer without a sale.
